Kurt Featherly is a much-loved and respected volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician (EMT) who has saved scores of lives. He is also my twin brother. He is battling an aggressive form of lung cancer.

Kurt’s friend Keith Wehmhoefer is organizing a benefit to defray his medical and living costs as he wages this fight, with assistance from the Minong Area Fire and Ambulance Department, which Kurt has served since 1993.

The spaghetti dinner/benefit will be held tonight from 4 pm to 8 pm (Friday, Sept. 18. 2015), at the Minong Village Hall in Minong, Wis. Details can be found here: www.facebook.com/events/868392129912594

However, we know Kurt has many friends, extended family members and former classmates living outside the Minong area who will be unable to attend. Some already have requested an alternative way to donate to his cause.

This GoFundMe site offers that mechanism. By clicking the “Donate” button, you will be directed to a form where you can make a credit card contribution. This site will continue accepting donations for several weeks after Friday’s event. Proceeds will be deposited directly into a special bank account set up for Kurt by the Fire and Ambulance Department.
