To coincide with Mental Illness Awareness Week, Adam Wahlberg’s Think Piece Publishing today debuts my mini-documentary on Janet’s Burroway’s memoir “Losing Tim.” A viewer containing the video can be found at the end of this post.

This eight-minute film documents Janet’s visit to Minneapolis in mid-August for a reading from “Losing Tim.” Footage from that event is included in the video, along with footage from an interview that Adam and I conducted with Janet the next day.

Janet’s son Tim was a military contractor in Iraq and a gun enthusiast who left the war disillusioned. Shortly after his return to his home in Africa, Janet received a call from her daughter-in-law informing Janet that Tim had killed himself. Her gripping, humane and wise book documents her process of coming to grips with her loss.

The music in the film was composed by me.
