The Slide Toward Chaos

CENTCOM, or the United States Central Command in Iraq, held a classified briefing last week that shows Iraq "edging toward chaos," according to a report in the New York Times.

The situation was revealed in a one-page slide, reproduced below, which reveals that Centcom now believes the situation on the ground in Iraq is critical--and slightly worse than it was last week. It indicates that "urban areas are experiencing 'ethnic cleansing' campaigns to consolidate control ... violence at all-time high, spreading geographically."
