The Day Elvis Died…

…I was walking through a patch of woods in Northern Wisconsin, coming out on a trail that emptied out onto a dirt road where there was a trailer house. My grandpa had once lived on that lot. The trailer house had a radio playing in the shed outside.

I heard the news that Elvis was dead coming from that radio.

I turned around and ran home, knowing that my mom was going to be devastated.

I was 12.
