Dayton Ready to Deal

At the Humphrey Institute moments ago, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton revealed he will accept the Republicans’ offer of June 30, if GOP leaders will abandon their social issues demands and “arbitrary” state worker reductions.

He also asked Republicans to agree to a bonding bill of at least $500 million.

This is not a capitulation, the governor says. But the government must reopen for business. He calls the GOP plan “the best arrangement possible.”

“It’s now or not at all this year,” the governor says. He calls it a case of “put up or miss the opportunity.”
