It’s not news at this point, but it’s always worth checking in on Jon Stewart’s take on the matter.

|Crisis in Dairyland – Scott Walker Prank Call|
My own take on the Walker tape is that none of it is surprising. He discusses a sleazy tactic of luring the runaway senators back to the assembly in a ruse whereby he would declare a quorum is present and move forward a vote to kill off collective bargaining. But, hey, politics is sleazy. And it was just an idea, and now that the cow’s out of the barn, it’s not going to happen.
There is nothing wrong with thinking about anything–even the idea of bringing in “troublemakers” to perform disruptive antics to make the protesters look bad, while also sleazy, is just an idea. It only gets really bad if bad ideas like that get transformed into action.
What bothers me about Walker’s prank phone conversation with the fake Koch brother is that the conversation took place at all. As my friend Joel Ryan has pointed out, the governor refuses to talk to almost anyone who is opposed to him, but he takes a call from a donor without even vetting whether the guy is legit. Which is not only disturbing, it is dumb.
The other thing that bothers me is what Walker offhandedly says to close out the conversation with the fake Koch.
“Thanks for all the support…it’s all about getting our freedoms back…”
— Scott Walker
Gov. Walker, I thought it was all about “repairing” the budget….
